Nanyang Championships; 5JuNGz secure the trip to Singapore

In the final act of Nanyang Championships European qualifiers 5JuNGz defeated Vega Squadron with a 3-2 final score and they are set to attend their first LAN event.

Nanyang EU qualifiers were the last opportunity that the teams had to secure their spot at one of the LAN events in this fall, prior to the Frankfurt Major. From all eight participating squads at this last qualifier round for Europe, 5JuNGz have managed to outplay Empire, Ninjas in Pyjamas and (monkey) Business to reach the final stage where they had to face the already qualified for ESL One NY, Vega Squadron.

The stakes were high for both teams as Vega would have grabbed their second traveling ticket for a post TI LAN event if they would have won the Nanyang qualifier finals, performance that no other team has managed to achieve this season.

On the other hand, since their creation, 5JuNgz have failed to reach the finals at any other tournament qualifiers which might have fueled thier desire to confirm their value at the NYC ones.

The confrontation between these two teams that took place last night, can be described as a real “tour de force” from both teams, with an impossible to predict outcome. Vega and 5JuNGz went neck and neck up to a decisive game five where Adrian 'FATA-' Trinks shined on his Razor and brought to 5JuNGz the qualifying spot to what is set to be the biggest tournament to take place this year in South East Asia.

With team Secret being directly invited at NYC, the LAN phase will be the first occasion when ex team mates like EternalEnvy and FATA and even old friends like KuroKy and Puppey will have the chance to play one against each other.

Nanyang Championships will take place in Singapore from October 26th to 1st of November with a total of ten teams fighting for a share of the $200,000 starting prize pool.
